Cá làm sạch, ướp cá với 1 muỗng cà phê bột canh, vài lát ớt hiểm. Dưa cải rửa qua cho bớt chua, cắt nhỏ vừa ăn. Rau sống rửa sạch, ngâm nước muối loãng. Cà chua cắt nhỏ múi cau.
Phi thơm hành tím băm với 1 muỗng canh dầu ăn cho cà chua vào xào sơ. Cho dưa chua vào nồi cà chua xào khoảng 1-2 phút sau đó cho 1 bát tô nước vào đun sôi. Sau đó bạn thả cá vào đun nhỏ lửa cho cá chín mềm, ngọt nước, thêm 1-2 lát ớt hiểm cùng ít gừng băm nhỏ. Nêm nếm gia vị vừa miệng. Đun khoảng 3-5 phút nữa là được. Cuối cùng thêm ít hành, thì là thái nhỏ rồi tắt bếp.
